My Favorite Spot to Play

In the back office there's an antique bed that gets nice late morning sunlight. I like to lay there, play with my toys, and occasionally read a good book.

G'pa Mike & New Official Stats

4 months, 13.5 lbs, 24.5 inches, 50th %tile in H & W... and more shots, blech. Thankfully, Grandpa Mike is here to sing "Six Little Ducks" to me

(apparently Mom's favorite song when she was my age).

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today is daddy's birthday so I hosted a brunch for him this morning (along with 17 of his friends) and picked out some yummy treats for Mommy to make like cheese blintzes from scratch, grits/cheese casserole, baked french toast, sausages, and the obligatory mimosas and bloody marys. I also helped him blow out the candles in his chocolate croissant...and presented him with a really cool present that I personalized with my own two feet: a handmade picture frame for his office that says "Eliza & Dad" on it.

Rock -n- ROLL!

It's still a bit of a crash landing but check this out...

Long Live the Trombone!

Apparently either Strauss or Wagner once said, “Never look at the trombones, it only encourages them," so that's exactly what I did today. I've been having fun with my cousins Sam and Liz all week and am sad that they're leaving tomorrow and taking that big, shiny, brassy toy home with them. I'm a pretty good singer and that thing was even louder than me! Of course, in the hands of a master like Sam, it can also be a tool for a gentle lullaby. I wonder if I'm the only baby ever to be put to sleep by a trombone? Now I just need to sweet talk Mom into learning how to play one for me...

Who Do I Look More Like?

Daddy? or Mommy?

Sam Elkin in from D.C.

Sam Elkin dropped in for the weekend last night but he got in after I went to sleep so this morning we had barnyard animal waffles, went to the farmer's market and then bade Sam and Liz farewell as they travelled north to see Corey, Rosemary, and the new coffee shop. Here, I'm getting ready to play my 20-point tile and defeat Sam in Muggins (500).

Pop Pops In

Pop dropped in for a quick overnighter last night after a San Francisco conference. We hung out on the couch and listened to some of the trombone serenades together. I've also been having fun with my cousin Liz, here making me smile in my new "I Got Juiced at the Beans & Barley" T-shirt.

Cousins Sam and Liz In Town

My cousins Sam and Liz Kulik are here for a weeklong visit. Sam brought his ukulele and played me some cool tunes. It was so fascinating,

I had to pull up my comfy new seat so I could concentrate on his finger picking.

Caroline Swoops In

This weekend Mom's old college buddy Caroline flew in all the way from Ecuador to meet me. She brought cool gifts including this cozy sweater and tiger finger puppet. She went back to Cambridge England yesterday to finish her PhD studying something biological about birds that I didn't understand.
BecAAAWWW, good luck with your final year Caroline!

The Morning Paper

My new Bumbo seat should really be called the catbird seat. FINALLY, I can sit at the table with the grownups and read the morning paper like a civilized baby. Hmmm, it says here snakes can predict earthquakes?

Mom and Me

These past few months, Mom and I have been hanging out 24/7 and we've formed quite an attachment. Tomorrow Mom is going back to work, and she's a little worried about how it will go. I gave her a big hug though and told her that I am going to miss her but I am going to be okay!

Welcome Baby Quincy!

Today we went to visit baby Quincy Charles Wyclef Washington, just back from the hospital Christmas Eve weekend. He's the only person I've ever met who's younger than me. While still a snuggly and mellow little guy I detected a little glimmer in his eye that foretells many an adventure together in our future. Welcome Quincy!

Holding Hands

Here is one of my new skills - holding hands. Sometimes when I am tired, I can just stare into space and hold mom's hand. She seems to find this much more relaxing than my other favorite activity when I am tired, screaming my head off. I, however, enjoy them both equally. By the way, where ARE we going to find delicious mushrooms for this long winter?

I..Can...Almost...Eat...My..Whole...HAND!

So I've been working really hard on my latest party trick. I decided that just sucking on my thumb was for kids under 3 months so I've been practicing a tried-and-true crowd-pleaser: putting my entire fist in my mouth. I've almost got it and, darn it, I'm DETERMINED to get there.
