The Park!

I have always liked to go on walks, but up until recently I had no idea why so many kids congregated in certain areas. Then recently, we took a break from the walk to check it out.
Hey, these swings are awesome! I even showed my dad a few moves.

A Sailor's Life for Me

While we were in Sausalito yesterday, I showed my dad some nice looking sailboats. This particular boat passed my rigorous safety check but Dad wouldn't let me climb in and sail away, so I'll have to wait for Uncle Corey to take me out some day up in Arcata.

The Tour of California

The biggest bike race in America started in the Bay Area this weekend and we went to see the start of Stage 1 (map) up north in Sausalito today. It was another beautiful California day, filled with some of the best riders in the world (Basso, Hushovd, Voigt, Rasmussen, Bettini, Julich, Zabriskie...). Here's local Santa Rosa native and prologue winner Levi Leipheimer in the leader's yellow jersey, and surprising prologue runner-up, and virtual unknown Coloradan, Jason Donald in the green sprinter's jersey. The only problem was when the riders went by everyone started screaming and yelling, which was kinda scary.

Walnut St Plum Blossom Festival

Today we took advantage of the balmy weather to enjoy a lovely afternoon and dinner at Suzanna, Molly, Maisy and Jack's house, under their plum tree in full bloom. I had lots of fun "playing with" (ie, grabbing the lips of) Maisy... Hey, where is she going?

Toes... WHOA!

In Mexico it was warm enough to hang out in my bathing suit. One side benefit was the amazing discovery of my previously 'en-socked' toes. I am now obsessed and can easily self-entertain.

Who's Yer Daddy?

This morning my Mom's group friends and I organized a special Valentine's Day brunch for our moms and dads. It was fun to finally put a face with all the gossip-y stories of the dads we'd been sharing! Plus, I got to catch up with with some of my friends like Donovan, who seemed a little concerned about my affection. That is until his oral surgeon dad told him I just wanted to see his incoming bicuspids.

Omma's 60th in Mexico (part 3) - The Waterfall

On Sunday we went out for an adventure to a nearby waterfall. After traveling about 1/2 km down a slightly treacherous rocky path, we arrived at an amazing waterfall pouring into an emerald green pool. I thought it was even more beautiful than the set of that classic Leonardo DiCaprio movie The Beach. Everyone else got to swing out on a rope swing and land in the pool, but my parents said I was still too little. We did pose for a nice family photo at the foot of the falls...

Omma's 60th in Mexico (part 2)

I had a great time with my Van de Water/LaFontano relatives. Chris
and Julie introduced me to a funny fish,
Pop taught me how to fly,but the birthday girl Omma was the most fun!

Omma's Birthday in Mexico (part 1)

We just returned from Platanitos in the Mexican State of Nayarit, an hour and a half drive north of Puerto Vallarta where we celebrated my Omma's 60th birthday. I highly recommend it. There's too much to summarize here in one post but we rented a 3BR house overlooking the Pacific (here is the view of one of the BRs from the porch)and a short walk from a beautiful shared pool on the water's edge. Our house even had it's own little pool where I took my first ever dip. At first I was a little wound up and had trouble leaving my worries behind but I quickly started getting used to this whole 'vacation' concept, and eventually was able to let go and really enjoy myself.
