Aunt Julie Comes to Visit

My Aunt Julie arrived last night (with a suitcase full of hand-me-downs!) for a weekend visit. She made us banana bread and dinner, made the wheels on my bus go 'round and 'round, took me for a walk, and laughed at my premature receding hairline. And it hasnt' even been 24 hours! I wonder what we'll do tomorrow?!

Pink Lamb Abduction!

4 Things I Learned Today

  1. Dad is really tall, and anthropologists apparently... aren't;
  2. Older boys try to steal your pacifier;
  3. I'll be able to suck my thumb and eat solid foods in five months; and
  4. Mom and Dad's friends Dar, Anissa, Max and Robbin are really nice.

Xmas is coming...

OK, so it's not even Thanksgiving yet but I DID see Santa at the store over the weekend and THEN the mail brought me my very own handknit Christmas stocking today!Of course, I'm the little angel to my Mom's Rudolph and my Dad's Santa:

Thanks Omma! As you can tell, I'm pretty excited.

More Cool Gifts!

Three more friends sent cool gifts recently including a handknit wool hat from Claire (and Rob, expecting their own twins any day!) and a handknit blanket from Sally (and Chris) - both are especially great now that it's getting cooler - and my flying parrot Polly, hanging from my bedroom ceiling and brought all the way from Prague! Thanks Meg and Waugh, I can ALMOST reach it.

The Finger's Replacement?: My Binkie

The weather has finally started to show signs of winter so last night we had our first fire of the season. Mesmerizing. Even more exciting has been my reintroduction to the "binkie." Before, it tasted too artificial and I'd just spit it out. But NOW, wow. This thing is great. No Mom or Dad twisting their finger as they reach for the remote, no pulling the finger out when the phone rings, no need to sleep ON the person attached to the finger, I can even suck away while driving the Moby Wrap.

I'M in control. Got it?

Women in the House... and Senate!

Election night was big. HUGE, even. I'm excited about returning some checks and balances to government again (particularly today, on Veteran's Day) and look forward to the day when a woman Speaker of the House is no longer newsworthy.
Wow, the A's into the second round and a Democratic sweep of both houses of Congress. I'd like to think it has to do with my vast influence, but nonetheless, a great first seven weeks!

In Pink at Greenbelt

I went to Mom's SF office today and brought some color to her fellow enviro-ladies-in-black. It was an eye-opening experience.

Product Review: My Gymini

Aarrrr, I army-crawl through the jungle, keeping my head low to avoid the dangerous purple elephants, pink-beaked toucans, and multi-colored giraffes' feet.Moving just an inch forward can be a morning's struggle. Plus, all those push ups. They really tire me out.

Product Review: My Moby Wrap

OK, I admit, when Dad first strapped himself into my Moby Wrap several weeks ago I had a hard time deciding whether he looked more like the Iron Chef: Sushi or a Tom Cruise wannabe from that terrible movie The Last Samurai. But now that I'm gaining some head control, I must say: it's great! It puts me in the driver's seat and, while that peapod is great and all, this allows me to navigate and see what's going on. (BTW, we live near a LAKE?!)Plus, it's so COMFORTABLE! Even for Mom and Dad.

Thanks Dar, Anissa, and Max!

Fashion/Endorsements

This is my latest look: a little bit stylish, a little bit hipster. My cousin-once-removed Beth sent me this cool sweater from New York this week. If I roll up the sleeves just a little it fits great and it really dresses up my favorite carpenter pants.
Oh, and here are the remainder of my endorsements for the more interesting items on the CA ballot:

1C - Yes
85 - No
86 - Yes
87 - Yes
90 - NO!!!
O - Yes!
Oakland City Council D2 - Pat Kernighan
Oakland City Auditor - Courtney Ruby

Papa's Gotta New Job!!

Dad got a new job this week, HOORAY!!! After five years with the San Francisco Board of Supervisors' Office of the Legislative Analyst, as of November 13th, he'll be doing long-range capital planning for that big city across the bay.

Now, if anyone has any great ideas on where we can find $15.7 BILLION over the next ten years...

The 48 Hrs of My Girl Friends

The last two days have been all about my girl friends. Yesterday I spent some quality time "parallel playing" with my good friend Maisy and got a message all the way from France from my friend Lea Bordier in wine country near Bordeaux. Then, this morning, Mom took me to my first Mom's group meeting where I met 12 other newborns. I wonder if any of them will become one of my peeps?

Finally, this afternoon, we had short visits with Violet P and Bahia in Rockridge before my new friend Zoe came over for dinner. Zoe's two months older and currently dwarfs me but I'm gaining on her everyday.
