Happy Mother's Day

We spent the first half of the weekend at the Marconi Conference Center on Tomales Bay for the Greenbelt Alliance board retreat before returning home for Mother's Day brunch. I gave Mom a book and had Dad cook her breakfast.
It was very exciting!

Duncan-n-Vanessa Drop In

My cousins Duncan and Vanessa were in town this weekend for a wedding in Antioch. They stopped in to say hello today so I introduced them to my mice friends Mice and A-Roni, we went to brunch in the 85 degree heat, and I gave them a little family noggin' time.

Let's Go Warriors!!!

WOW. The Golden State Warriors - a team most of the country long since forgot about, let alone knew played right here in Oakland - just erased a 13-year playoff drought by nabbing the lowest seed on the very last day of the regular season and then, against all odds, pulled off one of the biggest upsets in NBA playoff history by beating the top-ranked Dallas Mavericks in 6 exciting games. Ha Ha Ha Ha. Let's Go Oakland... er, "Golden State"! Next up, the Rockets or Jazz Monday night in Round 2. Unbelievable.

Welcome Delaney!

On Sunday we dropped in to visit 11-day-old Delaney Marie Welch and her parents Brooke and Sean. I remember how hard it is the first few weeks so I put my arm on her to tell her how it all gets easier. That goes for Mom too. At 7lbs 1oz she's still half my size, but once she gets a little bigger we are planning on lots of adventures together.

Uncle Corey Stops By

Uncle Corey dropped in yesterday for a quick visit on his way back from the Santa Cruz Film Festival where his shadow puppets were featured in one of the films (check them out here). Here we are fresh after my morning nap goofing around and having some fun. What do you think of my bedhead?

Playgroup

This week I dropped in on Maisy and Dylan's playgroup. They both have older siblings, so had a grand time watching the other 10 big kids run around. I found it interesting but a little disturbing. Here Maisy's making another play for my binkie while simultaneously hogging the camera spotlight. Hmmm, nice move.

My Baby Float

One of my favorite activities on Siesta Key was swimmin' in the pool. With my float I could kick around in circles like I was Exersaucing, scoot around the pool with my own two feet, and join in the fun with my big cousins.

Fun w/ Cousins Courtie and Lily

The best part about the beach in Florida was hangin' out with all my cousins, especially Courtie and Lily. They literally supported me, introduced me to yummy pool torpedoes, and made sandcastles with Maddox and me on the beach.
They were REALLY fun!

Back from the FL Beach

My editors sent me down to Sarasota, FL for the past week to report on the white sand beaches of Siesta Key (that's me in the orange cover-up),the timeless elegance of Siesta Royale apartments, the warm and gentle surf in the Gulf of Mexico, and the fresh local cuisine. Here Dad and I are watching a beautiful sunset and bringing our Oakland pride to the East Coast...

A's 5, Yankees 4!

Mom and Dad went to their second A's home game of the season last night. After a ticket-bitingly tight game through extra innings, rookie Travis Buck scored the winning run in the bottom of the 11th to beat the Yankees. Hooray! Let's Go Oakland!

p.s. I'll be on assignment for the next week, and will report back when I return.

Happy Belated Easter

I just got these pictures from Easter Sunday at Molly, Suzanna, Jack and Maisy's house. I had to look for my hidden Easter basket but then I was rewarded with Cheerios in an Easter egg and a delicious basket filled with grass. I spent the rest of the day looking for more treats - you never know where they might be hidden!

My Stats = 25/25/90

At my doctors appointment last week, I was 25" tall, and weighed just about 15lbs, which puts me around 25th %ile for height and weight. However, my head size is still hovering around the 90th %ile. So, since then, in order to grow into my head, I have been eating everything in sight, including sweet potatoes, apples, Cheerios, and even taking this bottle thing into my own hands. But just for good measure, I am trying to squish my head down as well.

Sunday Afternoons

Often on Sundays we'll hang out in bed as a family, snuggling with Dad while he does the crossword puzzle. I like to snuggle with Oliver too, but for some reason that often causes him to jump off the bed.

Merci beaucoup, Lea!

Earlier this week, I got a fun and unexpected gift in the mail from my friend Lea in France. She sent me a 3-CD compilation of traditional French folk songs and games (thankfully Ashley and David were here to translate for me). This is great (!) as ever since Christmas my ridealong partner in the car has been my French doll from my great aunt Sara which I've nicknamed Lea. Now we can sing in French together everytime we go somewhere! Thanks Lea, je l'aime!

This just in: Lea welcomed a little sister two days ago: Farah Bordier, born 53cm and 4.73kg. Welcome lil' Farah!
